The dictionary says that slapdash means “slipshod, haphazard, done hurriedly or carelessly.” While there’s value in being slow, deliberate, careful, and observant for some things, I really wanted to claim the value and delight in being SLAPDASH! You can read more about the inspiration behind this series, the reason for its name, and the very freeing creative process I followed to create these joyful pieces.

There is no theme for this quilt go wherever your thoughts take you! But quickly.

Since you have only two hours to complete your tile, try to focus on the fundamentals of a good tile: Edges, Legibility, and Composition! Use your time wisely!

SLAPDASH 91 does not have a specific theme, which means that it is your opportunity to practice your pixel artistry, experiment with new techniques, move out of your comfort zone, or finally draw that idea you have been waiting to share for ages! Use this time to brush up on your tile-rendering technique, remembering always to integrate your edges in fun and interesting ways, or let them be the entire inspiration for your tile! Go ahead and turn in as many of these tall tiles as you please, but, as before, you will have only 120 minutes to give each one your best work!
